I am writing this letter of recommendation for English Wilson, who served as a caregiver for my wife during the final months of her life as she battled Alzheimer’s disease. English worked with my wife for five months, providing daily care and compassionate support until my wife passed away in December 2025.
Caring for an individual suffering from Alzheimer’s requires a rare combination of patience, emotional strength, and attentiveness. English consistently demonstrated all of these qualities. My wife was frequently unable to communicate her needs, yet English had an exceptional ability to observe, understand, and respond appropriately—often before anyone even realized assistance was needed. She treated my wife not only as a patient, but as a person worthy of dignity, comfort, and respect.
During her time in our home, English provided dependable hands-on care including feeding, bathing, dressing, and assisting with hygiene needs while my wife was bedridden. She handled difficult moments with grace, including cleaning and caring for my wife during episodes involving bodily fluids. These tasks are not easy, but English handled them with professionalism, kindness, and without complaint.
Just as important, English brought emotional steadiness and warmth into an extremely difficult season for our family. She was gentle, calm, and attentive, offering reassurance and comfort to my wife when fear, confusion, or distress arose. Her presence provided peace not only for my wife, but also for me as a husband and caregiver watching someone I love decline.
English is trustworthy, dependable, and genuinely compassionate. I believe she would be a tremendous asset to any family seeking a caregiver who brings both skill and heart to the job. I offer my strongest recommendation without hesitation.

Having English care for my mom with dementia during her time living with us meant more to our family than we can easily express. She showed consistent kindness, patience, and understanding, always treating my mom with dignity and respect. She was attentive to my mom's daily needs and created a calm, reassuring presence that hehelpedy mom feel safe and comfortable. The connection she built with my mom felt genuine and heartfelt. George
I approached English Wilson at the Faith Sellers Senior Center in Summerville, SC after seeing how attentive English was with an elderly lady with dementia she was bringing to the center for socialization. As a result of our conversations, English spent a few weekend days with my husband, George, then 95 with dementia, in the spring of 2025 until we returned to Maine for the summer. I was extremely pleased with her care.
Upon our return to Summerville in the fall, I was very fortunate to be able to have English again help care for George, including a long weekend and a week respite so I could go on vacation with my family.
Just before my vacation, George got sick and was in bed. He rebounded and English and I took him to get some fluids. He seemed to be back to his normal self so I left on Friday. English called Saturday morning telling me they had to sleep in the recliners in the living room that night because George wasn’t doing well and she had called the ambulance. George was admitted with Influenza 3 and a UTI. After a week in the hospital, he was moved to a week of rehabilitation. During the week I was away and he was in the hospital, English kept me posted on what was happening, sent me medical reports and pictures. We also face timed. She was a great advocate and I felt that he was in good hands. The rehab nurses, and home PT and OT people consistently told me how attentive and proactive English was and that I really had an excellent substitute caregiver.
English often has ideas to help George navigate his days. George perks up when he sees her and you can tell he enjoys having her.
After being back in Maine for a month, George got an infection and was again in bed. English even offered to come to Maine and help if I needed it. I know she would have come if I did need her, but again, George rebounded and is on the mend.
When English is caring for George, I feel completely relaxed knowing that she is trustworthy, capable, kind, patient, attentive and compassionate. English does not hesitate to do what needs to be done, whether it is just holding his hands or helping with hygiene. There are no complaints from George that he doesn’t need a babysitter when English is here because her compassionate care makes him feel comfortable and supported. After George goes to bed, without being asked, helps with household chores. I recommend English Wilson wholeheartedly.
